About Rachel
My name is Rachel Johnson and I am passionate about empowering people.
As a healer, I am an Usui Shiki Reiki Master Teacher and a certified sound therapist. When I first encountered Reiki, I found it to be a powerful treatment, and one of few methods that could relieve the pain I experienced from fibromyalgia. After a particularly transformative session, a friend and Reiki practitioner suggested that I receive Reiki training so that I could offer myself Reiki to manage my chronic pain. I was drawn to the idea that I could not only use it to heal myself, but faciliate healing for others as well.
I received my attunements and training in Reiki I and Reiki II with Gail Syring in CT. I completed my year-long apprenticeship with Christine Patch-Lindsay in San Francisco, CA to become a Reiki III Master Teacher in order to teach the healing powers of Reiki to others and empower them to heal. I enjoy complementing my Reiki sessions with sound therapy to bring about greater relaxation and accelerate healing. I have completed the sound therapy and healing certification program at the Globe Institute. I am a registered Reiki Professional with the International Association of Reiki Professionals.
I also create Reiki-infused candles from recycled candlewax to allow people another way to access Reiki energy at home and assist with manifesting their desires. My candles can be purchased at a session or online at my etsy store. Visit the tools page for more information about other resources to support your wellness and spiritual growth.
As a teacher, I have a Bachelors in Music in Music Education with Vocal Emphasis from The Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford, and teach individual lessons in voice, piano, guitar, and flute. I aim to give my students the skills they need to use music for emotional expression, inspiration, healing, and fun! I also offer individual coaching in vocal sound healing as well as vocal sound healing workshops. Please see the classes page for more information.
I feel particularly called to teach Reiki and have worked hard at creating classes that honor this powerful healing art as well as impart the necessary knowledge and skills that a Reiki practitioner needs. Because of this, I have created my own Reiki handbooks that draw from the wisdom of my teachers combined with my personal experiences with Reiki and energywork. Please see the classes page for more information.
I have found that working with Reiki, sound, and other vibrational medicine will encourage spiritual growth in an individual. I am often coaching individuals with their spiritual questing and self-actualization. Because of this, many people ask me what religion I belong to. As a Unitarian Universalist, I draw spiritual inspiration from many sources, especially my work with universal energy, experiencing evocative music, and being in nature.
